Plant vs. Animal Fat

Posted by

Hello Friends!

Just one month ago, a major study was revealed at an American Heart Association Scientific Session. The study spanned an impressive 22 years and included over 93,000 men and women. The focus was on fat; in particular, how diets high in plant-sourced vs. animal-sourced monounsaturated fat affected mortality rates.

Although anyone who understands the benefits and biology of an alkaline diet could guess the general results, the exact numbers were very interesting.

The study revealed a “lower risk of dying from any cause during a 22-year average follow-up period among men and women who consumed greater amounts of plant-sourced monounsaturated fat such as that contained in olive and other vegetable oils, as well as avocados, nuts and seeds.”

How much lower was the risk of death when consuming more plant-sourced monounsaturated fats, you ask?

When comparing just the high intake vs. low intake of plant-sourced monounsaturated fat, the study reported a “16% lower risk of all-cause mortality” with high intake. And when comparing plant-sourced to animal-sourced monounsaturated fats in the diet, there was a “21% greater risk of death during follow-up” among those with a high intake of monounsaturated fat derived from animals.

That’s a 37% mortality rate difference between people with a high intake of plant-sourced Monounsaturated fat in their diet and people with high-intake of monounsaturated fat from animal sources! Incredible.

This major study is quite a definitive endorsement of the profound benefits of an alkaline diet and quality plant-based fats—as long-preached by the pH Miracle diet.
